West Austin is served by the Eanes Independent School District (ISD), which includes six elementary schools, two middle schools, and one high school. All nine of these schools are rated as exemplary by the State of Texas.
As a result of the Eanes ISD's focus on providing high-quality education in all of its schools, students from the district consistently score higher than Texas averages, and achieve SAT and ACT scores higher than the national averages. Based on its test scores, the district ranks sixth out of the 950 school districts in Texas.

Barton Creek Elementary
Barton Creek Elementary is a co-ed public school offering education from kindergarten to grade 5. In 2015, Barton Creek ranked better than 97.3% of elementary schools in the state of Texas. It's currently ranked as the top elementary school in the Austin area, the 4th best in the state of Texas, and 41st in the nation on research site Niche.
The school was also awarded distinctions by the Texas Education Agency in 2015 for Reading, Science, Postsecondary Readiness, and Student Progress, and for Closing Performance Gaps (between high-achieving and low-achieving students). The school offers music, art, sports, and other extracurricular activities.
Forest Trail Elementary
This West Austin co-ed public school caters to children from pre-kindergarten to grade 5. The school aims to foster a good sense of self, as well as a strong sense of community, in students. The school's curriculum includes music, art, technology, and physical education, and includes Special Education and Gifted and Talented programs for qualifying students.
In 2015 the school scored better than 98.9% of elementary schools in Texas and earned distinctions from the Texas Education Agency in Reading, Closing Performance Gaps, Postsecondary Readiness, and Student Progress.
West Ridge Middle School
West Ridge Middle School is a public co-ed middle school with a focus on the personal development of each child, as well as on academics. In 2015 the school achieved distinctions in the categories of Reading, Science, Mathematics, Closing Performance Gaps, Postsecondary Readiness, and Student Progress in the Texas Education Agency's accountability report.
The school caters to children from grades 4 to 8 and offers Gifted and Talented, pre-AP (Advanced Placement), and Special Education programs. In recent years the school's choirs, bands, orchestra, and Academic U.I.L teams have all received both regional and state honors. Sports at West Ridge include athletics, basketball, football, baseball, and wrestling.
Hill Country Middle School
This co-ed public middle school offers a solid, good-quality education, with the school consistently scores in the top 10% of Texas middle schools, based on student performance in reading and math assessments. In 2015 the school was awarded distinctions from the Texas Education Agency in the categories of Reading, Social Studies, Math, Closing Performance Gaps, Postsecondary Readiness, and Student Progress.
The school offers band, choir, and orchestra as extracurricular activities, as well as tennis, soccer, golf, volleyball, athletics, and basketball. The school also has a Gifted and Talented program, and participates in U.I.L academic contests.
Westlake High School
Westlake High School, the only high school in the Eanes ISD, is a public co-ed school, renowned for both its academic and sporting achievements. The school received distinctions in the categories of Reading, Math, Science, Social Studies, Closing Performance Gaps, Postsecondary Readiness, and Student Progress from the Texas Education Agency in 2015.
The school also exceeds both regional and state standardized test score averages in all subjects, with about 95% of Westlake students continuing their studies after graduation.
The Westlake Chaparrals compete in volleyball, athletics, football, basketball, weightlifting, swimming, soccer, golf, lacrosse, tennis, baseball, and softball.
The Westlake Cheer Program's Red Team won the UCA Super Varsity Division 1 National High School Cheerleading Championships in 2013, 2014, and 2015, and the school's band has been named the Texas State Honor Band three times in its 30 years of existence.
